The caps are made out of plastic. We are currently exploring using a plant-based plastic for these so that they can be recycled.
Cabinet pouches are made of 100% earth digestible (compostable) materials, specifically wood cellulose and biomaterials. They are also certified 100% backyard compostable and can be brought to local industrial or commercial composting facilities.
Cabinet refill pouches are made from wood cellulose and other biomaterials, all of which are 100% earth digestible. The pouches are back yard compostable, certified Lomi Approved, and municipal and industrial compostable (ASTM D6400).

It is important to check in with your doctor or healthcare provider before taking Cabinet Sleep Aid if you have:
A breathing problem, such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis
Glaucoma
Trouble urinating as a result of an enlarged prostate gland
If you are currently taking sedatives, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, or any other medications that make you sleepy or have sedative effects, ask a doctor or local pharmacist prior to taking any tablets.
Adults and children over the age of 12 can take one (1) softgel at bedtime as needed for relief of occasional sleeplessness. Do not take more than one (1) dose of Cabinet Sleep Aid in 24 hours, unless your doctor told you to. This product is not to be used by children under the age of 12.
Cabinet Sleep Aid is not recommended for long-term use, and should not be used for more than two weeks straight.
Good to know: While Cabinet Allergy Relief (generic Benadryl generally used for allergies) contains 25 mg of diphenhydramine, Cabinet Sleep Aid (generic Unisom generally used as an OTC sleep medicine) contains 50 mg of diphenhydramine.
Cabinet Sleep Aid, a generic alternative to Unisom®, is a popular over-the-counter sleep aid (OTC sleep aid) used to relieve sleeplessness. The active ingredient, diphenhydramine hcl, belongs to a group of medications called antihistamines. Antihistamines work by blocking the action of histamine, which is a substance in the body that causes allergic symptoms and reactions. Some antihistamines, such as diphenhydramine, can enter the brain and cause drowsiness. This side effect is what allows for diphenhydramine to be a great occasional, non-habit forming sleep aid. In addition to helping with sleep, Cabinet Sleep Aid also works to relieve symptoms of allergy such as runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes. This product can provide relief for occasional sleeplessness, but is not used for long-term treatment of insomnia.

For the curious consumer: Batch-level testing is not common practice among manufacturers. A great example of the lack of testing in this space is the massive Zanac (randitidine) recall in 2019 and 2020. Manufacturers recalled ranitidine (both brand and generic) after a cancer-causing chemical called N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) was discovered in every medicine lot.
