Frequently Asked Questions

We know how important it is to know what you're putting inside your body. Please visit this link for a PDF of full drug facts for Cabinet Pain + Fever Relief.

For those with celiac disease or a gluten intolerance, we know how hard it can be to find safe medications and products you can trust. Cabinet is the first healthcare company to conduct batch-level quality testing through a 3rd party lab for carcinogens, gluten, and purity. This ensures that every batch of medicine that goes to market is high quality and free of harmful ingredients.

Cabinet Pain + Fever Relief is certified gluten-free and 100% free from known carcinogens. You can view our 3rd party certificate of analysis at this link.

For the curious consumer: Batch-level testing is not common practice among manufacturers. A great example of the lack of testing in this space is the massive Zanac (randitidine) recall in 2019 and 2020. Manufacturers recalled ranitidine (both brand and generic) after a cancer-causing chemical called N-Nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) was discovered in every medicine lot.

Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer, a FDA-approved generic alternative to Tylenol® Extra Strength, is a very popular over-the-counter (OTC) medicine used for pain relief and fever. The active ingredient, acetaminophen, belongs to a group of medications called analgesics (pain relievers) and antipyretics (fever reducers). The exact way acetaminophen works in the body is not well known. It may work by decreasing the production of chemicals that cause inflammation, known as prostaglandins. It is also thought that acetaminophen can increase the pain threshold, making it so that more pain would have to develop before you can feel it. Lastly, acetaminophen can act on the heat-regulating center of the brain (hypothalamus). When your temperature is high, it can tell this center of the brain to cool the body to bring your fever down. It is important to note acetaminophen does not decrease inflammation or swelling, rather it most likely changes the way your body perceives pain.

Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer is a medicine used to temporarily relieve minor aches and pains due to the common cold. It can also be used for other ailments including: sore throat, headache, back pain, minor arthritis pains, toothache, muscle aches, premenstrual or menstrual cramps, and fever. Keep in mind that acetaminophen does not help with pain from inflammation or swelling. Anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen or naproxen, are generally better options for inflammatory pain or swelling.

Adults and children 12 years and over may take one (1) or two (2) caplets every four to six hours as needed for pain or fever. Do not take more than six caplets in a 24 hour period, unless directed by your doctor. This product is not recommended for children under the age of 12. Check with your healthcare provider prior to giving acetaminophen to your child. Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer should be stored away from young children.

Liver Warning: This product contains acetaminophen. Severe liver damage may occur if you take more than 4,000 mg of acetaminophen in 24 hours. It is very important to watch out for other acetaminophen products (OTC and prescription medications) and to make sure additive sources of acetaminophen do not go over 4,000 mg a day. Avoid consuming three or more alcoholic beverages every day while using this product. In the case of an overdose, contact a Poison Control Center (1-800-222-1222) or seek medical attention immediately.

You may notice the effects of Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer within 45 minutes of taking a dose. The effects of each dose can last up to four hours.

Avoid using Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer with any other over-the-counter or prescription medicines that contain acetaminophen. Taking too much acetaminophen can cause liver injury. If you are not sure if a medicine has acetaminophen in it, check with a doctor or pharmacist. Some Cabinet medicines that have acetaminophen include: Daytime Severe Cold & Flu, Tension Headache Relief, and Pain Reliever & Sleep Aid. Do not use Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer if you have ever had an allergic reaction to any ingredient in this product.

Please speak with your doctor prior to using Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer if you have liver disease or if you are taking a blood thinner called warfarin.

You should stop using Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer and seek medical advice from a health care professional if you notice:

  • Pain that is worsening or lasts for more than 10 days

  • Fever that is worsening or lasts for more than three days

  • New symptoms or pain that occur

  • Redness or swelling.

These presentations could be signs of a more serious medical condition or infection. Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer is recommended for temporary pain relief. If you suffer from chronic pain, refer to your doctor for pain management resources.

Please speak with your doctor prior to using Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Acetaminophen is one of the only pain relievers generally considered to be safe in pregnancy and lactation, but the benefits and risks of use still must be evaluated by your healthcare provider.

Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer does not usually have any side effects. If you experience any unusual effects after taking this medicine, contact your doctor or local pharmacist immediately.

Although rare, call 9-1-1 or seek medical help immediately if you develop a serious allergic reaction to acetaminophen. Symptoms of a very serious reaction include: rash, skin reddening, blisters, itching or swelling (usually in the face, tongue, and throat), severe dizziness, and difficulty breathing. In the case of an overdose, contact a Poison Control Center (1-800-222-1222) or seek medical attention immediately. Signs of acetaminophen overdose may include: nausea and vomiting, loss of appetite, sweating, stomach pain, yellowing of the eyes/skin, dark urine, and extreme fatigue.

It is recommended to limit or avoid alcohol while you are taking Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer. Mixing acetaminophen and alcohol can potentially lead to liver damage. It is recommended to wait at least four hours after taking a dose of Cabinet Pain Reliever & Fever Reducer before consuming alcohol. Avoid consuming three or more alcoholic beverages a day while using this product.

    My medicine cabinet is much

My medicine cabinet is much neater and it’s easier to find what I need! I love that each grouping of medication is color coordinated to match the other similar items!

    I love these.

Took care of my headache, and I love the compactness, environmental friendliness, and style. All the products reduce a medicine cabinet full of various sizes and shapes of bottles and boxes to two neat stacks.

    Gluten-Free and Low Waste, Hooray!

I bought these because I was looking for gluten-free acetaminophen, which has been increasingly difficult to find. I'm so, so, relieved to find a brand that is actually testing their products! So far, I've had no ill effects and the product does what it is supposed to do. I really like the low waste approach, too. I will certainly buy this again. .
